What to Wear
Come dressed in comfortable fitness attire that's easy to move in and can handle sweat.
Students should also bring water.
Shoes
Wear sneakers that support dance movement — think side-to-side movements and pivots rather than simple front-to-back movement. Good shoes can include cross trainers, or running shoes with a worn-out tread.
Ideally a cross-trainer athletic shoe with low tread or type with a pivot circle on ball of foot are best. For your first class if you have cross-trainer that is older you will find the tread is just right. A newer good insert will give the shoe an extended life. Here is what the Zumba.com website FAQ says:
Zumba® Fitness recommends that you wear "cross training" or "aerobic" style shoes. They provide the cushion and medial lateral support needed for side-to-side movements. They also have low traction rubber for easy sliding and turning. Please be careful with "running shoes" since they use a heavy tread on the bottom and are designed for forward movement.
Some floors are not as smooth as others and you may need to add 'slipperiness'. By that I mean to pivot on a rubber floor (such as a school gym) either a pivot shoe or some duct tape on the sole would help. (We bring the duct tape to each class in case).
